Our map provides a visual awareness of the distance between Kalamazoo, Michigan and Aomori, Japan. Students from both classrooms, in the pen-pal project, can view the route. They can also zoom in and look at the surrounding areas; if we were working with actual classes, we would have the addresses of each of the elementary schools. An idea would be to have students give each other addresses of grocery stores, farms, or other locations regarding nutrition. They could then use Google Maps to find the locations and view them on street view.
